Portumna Retirement Village seeks a Kitchen Assistant to join its team.
The role involves assisting with all aspects of kitchen work, assisting with food preparation, serving food to residents, supporting the overall care team and implementing a strict washing and cleaning and hygiene plan.
Successful candidate must be able to work between 15 and 30 hours of mixed shifts throughout the seven day week, including weekends, and be prepared for early morning start (7am) (depending on allocated shift).
On occasion, the candidate will need to be able to increase their working hours to cover sick leave and annual leave of colleagues.
No late evening work is envisaged.
The successful candidate must be of a kind and caring nature and be able to engage with residents and colleagues and provide them with assistance if required.
Experience in a catering environment would be an advantage but not essential.
The proposed start date is in late August. Given such a start date, this position is not suitable for anyone that may need to relocate or obtain a work permit/visa.
Good communication with elderly residents is essential in this role so it is not suitable for anyone that cannot communicate effectively in English
