JOB DESCRIPTION: HOUSE SUPERVISOR - MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

Reports to: General Manager
Purpose of role
Supervise & support up to 7 residents in a HSE supported Mental Health Hostel on a live-in week-on, week-off basis. The main purpose of this role is to help the residents to help themselves by supporting and encouraging them to take responsibility for their own lives, so they become self-supporting and independent.
Compassion, good communication skills and a calm and caring manner are essential for this important role in our company.
Key responsibilities and Accountabilities
- To ensure the residents are kept safe, helped & supported to live independent lives,
- Encouraged & supported to gain meaningful employment e.g. helping with CV writing etc.
- Encouraged to engage in community events and social activities e.g. going on nights out the cinema and other cultural events.
- Responsible for liaising with various trades people and the landlord to ensure the house/hostel is maintained in good condition, this includes the fabric of the building, its furniture, appliances, front and rear gardens.

Duties
- Rent collection
- Household budgeting & shopping
- Organising social events for the residents (daytrips/weekends away etc)
- Help with CV writing
- Medication management on behalf of the residents
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure all residents are in good physical and mental health.
- Liaising with HSE, Mental Health Association & Bluebird Care management staff to ensure the smooth running of the service we are delivering to the residents.
- Deal with issues and/or problems locally to ensure a satisfactory outcome for all stakeholders and knowing when to escalate to your manager.
This list is not exhaustive, you may be asked to carry out additional duties.
We will provide you with full training in line with regulatory requirements.
Recording and Reporting
You will be responsible and accountable for accurate recording and reporting such as:
- Log all issues/problems or complaints etc. as they occur, how these were resolved and what the learning outcome was.
- Update the individual care notes for each resident on a daily basis.
- Other records/reports as prescribed by the HSE or Bluebird Care
Qualifications:
- Fluent in the English language (both verbal & written)
- Hold at least two QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support modules or similar.
- Previous experience in a similar role is desireable but not essential as full training will be provided.
- Be capable of working on own initiative
Work well as part of the Bluebird Care team
- Follow Bluebird Care policies, procedures, and guidance at all times
- Take part in staff and resident meetings
- Attend training activities, supervisor and appraisal meetings
- Be a team player
Hours of Work
You will be expected to work on a Live-in "Week-on" / "Week-off" basis. You will also be paid during your week off. You will be part of a two-person team with the flexibility to alter your working days by mutual agreement, any alteration will be subject to agreement by the General Manager however agreement won’t be unreasonable withheld.
In exceptional circumstances you may be requested to do work outside these days and hours however this will not be the norm.
