The Role
As SAP, you will be the primary on-site authority for all HV, MV and LV electrical systems. You will own the Electrical Safe Systems of Work, manage the full permit system, lead energisation and commissioning activities, and set the standard for electrical safety across the project team.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary on-site authority for all live and potentially live electrical systems, assuming full responsibility for their safe control at all times.

Establish, manage, audit and enforce the Electrical Safe Systems of Work (ESSOW), including Permit to Work systems, access control, and lockout/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.

Approve, issue, manage and close Electrical Safety Permits for all energised work activities in line with project and jurisdictional requirements.

Identify electrical hazards - including arc flash risk - and implement appropriate mitigation measures; monitor and manage PPE standards and calibration requirements.

Review and approve electrical safety risk assessments and method statements.

Escalate any safety breaches or non-compliance issues to the Person in Charge of the Electrical Installation and Senior Engineer before risk is realised.

Plan and execute safe HV/MV and LV energisations, isolations and switching operations.

Manage the commissioning process from Level 2B to Level 5 through to IST.

Mentor and develop the AP team and commissioning technicians.

Review and approve risk assessments, method statements, switching plans and test documentation.

Attend daily commissioning and project progress meetings; share timely system status updates.

Ensure all testing is witnessed, documented and signed off with calibrated equipment.

Nominate and oversee a deputy; be full-time on site throughout the project.
What We're Looking For

5-10 years' experience managing large electrical installation projects, with at least 3 years as SAP or equivalent.

Qualified electrician (National Craft Certificate or Level 6+ equivalent).

HV and LV Authorised Person training completed within the last two years.

Proven track record on HV/MV infrastructure - data centres, DNO, IDNO or power generation.

Strong technical knowledge: SLDs, earthing, switchgear, busbar, protection discrimination, FAT/SAT.

Full conversance with National Rules for Electrical Installations and jurisdictional regulations.

Excellent communication and leadership skills; confident managing teams in high-risk environments.
