Job Description
Commercial Development
Identify sales opportunities with the sales team
Monitor Irish market rates and trends
Develop competitive pricing and service offerings with product teams
Support customer meetings and presentations
Service Provider Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and hauliers
Negotiate rates, especially for exports
Ensure competitive and cost-effective haulage pricing
Team Leadership
Lead ocean operations, pricing, and warehouse teams
Set objectives, provide coaching, and drive performance
Oversee daily operations and optimize resources
Track quotation success rates and improve performance
Conduct appraisals and manage performance issues
Customer Relations
Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with trade regulations and company policies
Oversee system accuracy (ROCS) and shipment tracking
Manage insurance claims and improve workflows
Maintain health, safety, and environmental standards
Reporting & Performance
Monitor budgets and cost efficiency
Track KPIs (service, invoicing, delivery, pricing success)
Deliver performance reports and improvement actions
Candidate's Profile
- 10+ years' experience in freight forwarding (sea/air/road/import/export/customs)
- Strong knowledge of the Irish ocean freight market
- Excellent carrier and stakeholder management skills
- Solid operational and financial understanding
- Proficient in Excel and freight forwarding systems
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Relevant logistics qualification (preferred)
- Supervisory or management training
- Good health & safety awarenes
