Tenure: Permanent - 12 hour shift work
Location: Laois
Salary: €16.50-21.00 per hour DOE
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Relevant QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualifications or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities.
- Knowledge of adults/children with complex needs.
- A full manual driver's licence is mandatory, with eligibility to drive in Ireland
- Eligible to live and work in Ireland without restriction
Desirable Experience
- 1 years working in a residential setting for people with a disability
Special Skills and Competencies Professional Knowledge & Experience
- Knowledge of quality assurance practices and their application to service provision
- Experience of working with people with an Intellectual Disability/Acquired Brain Injury.
- Knowledge of services to people with disabilities
- Knowledge of social care model of service delivery
- Knowledge of Person Centred Planning
- Knowledge of both clinical and human resource policies and procedures, and relevant legislation
- Knowledge of National Disability Standards (HIQA)
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Please note: this is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities) : Under the direction of the Person in Charge, the Social Care Assistant will be responsible for ensuring the privacy, dignity, and respect of individuals with disabilities are respected.
What you'll be doing
- To role-model a culture within the workplace which supports the mission, vision and values of the service.
- Assist in the implementation of clinical policies and guidelines services in line with National Quality Standards.
- Assist in the Management of client care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based approach to ensure clinical effectiveness and efficiency.
- Coordinate and prioritise appointments in liaison with MDT, with support of Social Care Workers.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve service user satisfaction.
- Supporting residents to build independence, self-confidence, and individuality.
- Encouraging strong community links and promoting inclusion.
- Creating a safe and positive environment that supports residents’ well-being.
- Preparing reports and keeping accurate resident records.
- Taking part in training sessions and attending professional meetings.
- Following and maintaining service policies and procedures.
- Promoting health and safety in line with the service’s policies.
- Respecting confidentiality at all times.
- Maintaining high standards of work, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues.
