Position Overview
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Deli Assistant / Barista to join our team. This role involves serving customers at the deli counter, preparing and serving high-quality coffee and beverages, maintaining food safety standards, and creating a welcoming experience for all customers. The ideal candidate will have previous deli and barista experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for excellent customer service. We are looking for a passionate, innovative, hardworking, reliable, and honest individual to join our team and uphold the core values.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with product selections
- Prepare and serve deli items, including sandwiches & salads, and other food products
- Prepare and serve a range of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks
- Operate tills and process customer transactions accurately
- Maintain an attractive and well-stocked deli and coffee service area
- Monitor product freshness, rotate stock, and ensure displays are presented to a high standard
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment and service counter
- Support opening and closing duties
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Assist with stock checks, stock replenishment, and receiving deliveries when required
- Uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity in all aspects of the role
Qualifications/Requirements
o 1 years’ experience as a deli staff member or in a similar position. Barista experience a bonus
o Exceptional customer service and communication skills
o A solid understanding of service standards
o Strong organisational and multitasking skills
o Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
o A keen eye for detail
o Level-headed and consistent in nature
o Trustworthy and reliable
o Approachable with excellent people skills
