We are seeking an experienced and reliable Skilled Operative to join our site teams, working on civil engineering and construction projects throughout Ireland.
The role will primarily involve civil engineering and groundworks, although the successful candidate must be flexible and willing to assist across a variety of construction activities depending on project requirements.
Excellent employment package available, with accommodation/digs provided for projects requiring travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general civil engineering and construction works as part of an experienced site crew.
- Groundworks including excavation, drainage, ducting, services and associated works.
- Installation of kerbs, footpaths, concrete works and general site infrastructure.
- Assist with roadworks, reinstatement and utility-related projects.
- Operate small plant and construction equipment where trained and competent.
- Assist trades, machine operators, engineers and supervisors as required.
- Follow drawings, site instructions and agreed work methods.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, productivity and site housekeeping.
- Work safely and comply with all company Health & Safety procedures.
- Be flexible in undertaking different types of construction work depending on project requirements.
Travel & Project Requirements
This position will involve travel to projects throughout Ireland. Projects requiring travel will generally be for relatively short durations, with the operative working as part of a Nexus site crew.
Accommodation/digs will be provided by the company where required.
Candidates must therefore be comfortable travelling and working away from home when required.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience in civil engineering, groundworks or general construction.
- Be experienced and confident working as part of a site crew.
- Have a strong practical understanding of construction site activities.
- Be willing to travel nationwide for projects.
- Be flexible regarding the type of work undertaken.
- Have a strong attitude towards Health & Safety and quality.
- Be reliable, punctual and capable of working effectively as part of a team.
- Hold a valid Safe Pass.
- Hold relevant plant tickets, CSCS cards or other construction qualifications where applicable.
- A full driving licence would be an advantage.
