This permanent, parttime role, 20 hours per week.
About the Role
Blackrock Health Galway Clinic is seeking a skilled and motivated Clinical Perfusion Scientist to join our cardiothoracic team. This role involves delivering a safe, high-quality clinical perfusion service to support a wide range of cardiac and related surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes at all times.
Key Responsibilities

Independently operate cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and associated extracorporeal circulation technologies during routine and emergency cardiac surgeries.

Monitor patient physiology and respond proactively to maintain stability during procedures.

Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot perfusion equipment, including Heart-lung machines, Heater-cooler Units, IABP, and Cell Saver.

Ensure compliance with clinical governance, safety standards, and best practice guidelines.

Maintain accurate clinical records and participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Provide on-call support for emergency procedures and demonstrate flexibility in working hours.

Participation in an on-call rota is required
Essential Requirements:

Accreditation and Registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain & Ireland.

Membership of the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain & Ireland.

Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in a cardiac surgical environment.

Proven ability to independently manage CPB and related technologies.

Strong clinical judgement, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
