Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic team member to join our busy production workshop. In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and construction of commercial vehicle bodies, working from raw materials and initial components through to the finished product. This position requires a high level of metal fabrication and assembly expertise, including measuring, cutting, drilling, fitting, and finishing steel and aluminium components. The ideal candidate will be practical, detail-oriented, and eager to grow their skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Install ply lining kits, flooring systems, shelving, racking, and storage solutions in commercial vans to a high standard.
Carry out vehicle fit-outs in accordance with customer specifications, technical drawings, and company quality standards.
Measure, mark out, cut, and fit plywood, composite panels, flooring materials, and ancillary components accurately.
Install vehicle accessories and equipment, including bulkheads, roof vents, lighting, tie-down systems, ladder racks, and security products.
Safely operate a range of hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment, including drills, saws, riveters, and fastening tools.
Assemble and fit van conversion products while ensuring a professional finish and attention to detail.
Conduct quality inspections of completed work to ensure installations meet company and customer expectations.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production schedules and delivery deadlines.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Essential Attributes Skills
Workmanship
You must have excellent practical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to consistently produce high-quality fit-outs and installations.
Vehicle Fit-Out Experience
You should have hands-on experience fitting commercial vehicles, including ply lining, flooring, shelving, racking, or similar conversion products.
Manufacturing Assembly Experience
You should have experience in a manufacturing, workshop, or assembly environment and be comfortable working to specifications and quality standards.
Measuring Installation Skills
You must be proficient in using measuring equipment such as tape measures, squares, and levels, with the ability to accurately mark out, cut, and install materials.
Tool Competency
You should be experienced in using hand tools, power tools, air tools, and fastening equipment safely and effectively.
Drawing Interpretation
You should be able to read and interpret technical drawings, installation instructions, and customer specifications accurately.
Positive Attitude Development
A willingness to learn new products, installation techniques, and vehicle conversion methods is essential.
Desirable Experience
While not essential, the following would be a significant advantage:
Previous experience in commercial vehicle conversions, van fit-outs, or ply lining installations.
Experience fitting shelving, racking, storage systems, and vehicle accessories.
Basic auto-electrical knowledge, including the installation of lighting, beacons, inverters, or auxiliary equipment.
Experience fitting roof racks, ladder loading systems, tow bars, or security products.
Forklift licence or workshop-based qualifications.
Experience working with welfare vans, mobile workshops, or specialist vehicle conversions.
