Are you passionate about animal welfare and making a real difference in your community? Join us as a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Cat Coordinator and become a hero for community cats! This dynamic role involves managing and implementing our TNR program to humanely control the population of feral cats. You'll work closely with local communities, veterinarians, and CDPA volunteers to ensure these cats receive the humane treatment by being trapped, transported to the vet clinic, and returned to their original location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trap Management: Set up and monitor humane traps to capture cats in designated areas.
- Neutering Coordination: Coordinate with veterinary clinics to schedule spay/neuter surgeries.
- Return and Release: Safely return cats to their original locations after the cats have recovered.
- Community Engagement: Educate local communities about the benefits of TNR - Cats no longer reproduce, reducing unwanted kittens, fighting, and improves the health and quality of their lives.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records.
Requirements:
- Compassion for animal welfare is a must
- Basic computer skills
- Manual Handling Certificate
- Previous experience is an advantage, though full training will be provided.
- Full Drivers Licence, and access to car
- Skills:
- Willing to learn a strong understanding of cat behaviour and humane trapping techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and basic computer skills.
- Physical Requirements: Physically fit to carry a cat in a trap plus other equipment
- Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Every day is an adventure!
- Schedule: Work is mostly Monday through Friday when the veterinary clinics do their routine surgeries. Flexibility is key due to the scheduling of the feeding/trapping and return of the cat.
Compensation: €15 per hour.
