Purpose of Job: To comply with all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure the friendly, efficient and quality service to all our Café guests in a clean, hygienic and safe environment

Responsible for: The preparation of patisserie and bakery items for the cafe, retail area and afternoon tea service. Aid the Head Baker in Menu development and always striving to 'delight the senses' of every Bewley's customer.
Purpose of Job: Assist the kitchen management team with the operation of the kitchen(s), including food preparation and quality, physical maintenance and inventory functions to ensure Café quality standards and revenue goals are met and food and supply costs are controlled.
Main Duties:
- To arrive for work on time dressed in full clean uniform, well-groomed and presenting a professional appearance as per the company dress code.
- Always striving to achieve our Core Values & Mission Statement of “Delight the Senses”.
- Educate and assist with training new team members in compliance with standard, service behaviors and government regulations.
- Ensure I have the tools, training and equipment to carry out job duties.
- Communicate regularly with the Executive Chef and Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the pastry section at all times.
- To ensure good inter departmental co-operations and communication maintained at all times.
- Participate in all food and beverage inventories.
- Ensure all equipment is in proper operational condition and cleaned on a regular basis.
- Ability to develop and assist with the creation of menus and daily specials and make sure that menus are prepared correctly and ready for service.
- Ensure a superior production of sweet items, pastries, cakes, ice-creams, sorbets, fruit compotes, chocolates for the Café.
- Prepare exciting and appealing petit fours and cakes and to make show pieces as needed.
- Use guest and management feedback to improve food quality and presentation.
- Ensure all menus items are prepared and presented according to the established recipes and standards.
- Maintain procedures to ensure the security and proper storage of food products, inventory and equipment.
- Replenish supplies in a timely manner and minimize waste and pilferage.
- Adhere to government regulations as well as Café standards and company policies and procedures.
- Ensure no unauthorized employees/persons enter the food preparation area. Power/Heating to be conserved; lights in rooms, equipment etc. to be turned off when not in use.
- To ensure a safe workplace by identifying hazards and taking corrective action.
- To ensure that all fire doors are closed and that fire routes are kept clear at all times and to assist guests during a fire or emergency evacuation.
- To be aware and comply with company policy regarding: Fire, Health & Safety, Hygiene, Food Hygiene and Customer Care & Security.
- To read, understand and comply with your responsibilities as defined in the Health & Safety Statement and Staff Handbook.
Occasional Duties:
- To attend meeting/training sessions as required.
- To assist in the training and assistance of a new staff member.
- To carry out any other reasonable requests made by Management.
- To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capacity as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/locations if required and as directed by the Management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have 2 years’ experience in a similar position with relevant school/college qualifications.
