Position Overview
I am currently assisting my client, a well established civil engineering and utilities contractor delivering infrastructure projects across Ireland, in the recruitment of Health and Safety Advisors to join their HSQE team.
These are permanent roles, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, these are not agency or short term roles. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.
The client is open to candidates at different levels, including Junior / Mid level candidates with 1+ years’ experience and Mid / Senior level candidates with 5+ years’ experience. The successful candidates will support the delivery of projects across the business from a health and safety perspective, with a strong focus on compliance, reporting, audits, training, documentation, and practical site support.
The roles will be based from the head office in Ballycoolin, with travel to project sites as required. Candidates must hold a full clean driving licence and be willing to travel to site when needed.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of health, safety, environmental policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and health and safety reviews.
- Provide safety training, including inductions, toolbox talks, and manual handling where required.
- Assist with risk assessments, safe systems of work, method statements, and site specific safety documentation.
- Identify site hazards and work with site teams to ensure practical control measures are in place.
- Support accident and incident investigations, reporting, and follow up actions.
- Maintain site folders, statutory records, reports, and health and safety documentation.
- Monitor health and safety compliance across sites and raise non conformances where required.
- Assist with Health and Safety KPIs, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with the Health and Safety Manager, HSQE team, site management, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Requirements
- 1+ years’ experience for Junior / Mid level candidates or 5+ years’ experience for Mid / Senior level candidates.
- Previous experience in health and safety within construction, civils, utilities, drainage, water, electricity, or similar environments.
- Third level qualification in Health and Safety is desirable.
- Full clean driving licence is essential.
- Strong understanding of health and safety compliance, audits, reporting, documentation, and risk control.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with site teams, contractors, management, and project stakeholders.
- Confident, motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a wider HSQE team.
- Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.
