Join Our Boarding Family as a Male Boarding House Duty Staff member
Are you warm, energetic, and passionate about supporting young people?
Do you thrive in a lively community and enjoy being part of students’ everyday lives?
Wilson’s Hospital School is a co-educational boarding facility with 120 boarding students. International students stay seven days a week and national students Sunday evening until Friday afternoon through the academic school year.
We’re looking for dedicated Male Boarding House Duty Staff to help create a safe, supportive, and fun home environment for our boarders.
What you’ll do: Be a visible, approachable presence in the house — chatting with students, checking in on their day, and helping with routines like meals, prep, and bedtime.
Supervise students outside school hours on a rostered basis (including some evenings, overnights, and rotating weekends).
Support pastoral care: celebrate birthdays, organise activities, and be there for the ups and downs of boarding life while keeping the Church of Ireland Christian ethos of the school’s values alive.
Help maintain a clean, welcoming house and work as part of a friendly team.
Act in loco parentis — ensuring every student feels cared for and valued.
You’ll be great if you:
· Love the company of teenagers and have a natural rapport with them.
· Are reliable, positive, and resilient (boarding life has its unpredictable moments!).
· Have experience working with young people (teaching, youth work, or similar is a plus, but not essential — enthusiasm counts!).
· Hold relevant qualifications (e.g., First Aid, police check/safeguarding clearance) or are willing to obtain them.
· Enjoy community living and don’t mind the occasional unsociable hours.
In return, you’ll get the chance to be part of a close-knit school community, professional development, and the satisfaction of making a real difference in students’ lives.
Ready to make boarding feel like home?
We’d love to hear from you!
