About the Opportunity
A leading Tier 1 Contractor is seeking an experienced
Planning Manager to join its Dublin-based project team, initially supporting the successful delivery of a major
Hyperscale Data Centre.
This is a key leadership role responsible for developing, managing, and controlling the integrated project programme from pre-construction through commissioning and handover. Working closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Commercial Teams, Engineers, and Client Representatives, you will ensure programme certainty, accurate forecasting, and successful project delivery while driving planning best practice across the project.
The Role - Planning Manager
As
Planning Manager, you will take ownership of the project programme, providing strategic planning leadership across all phases of construction while supporting operational decision-making, risk management, and project controls to ensure the successful delivery of this flagship Data Centre development.
Planning Manager Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and management of the integrated project programme, including baseline schedules, critical path analysis, programme updates, short-term look-ahead planning, progress measurement, resource loading, earned value analysis, schedule recovery planning, and commissioning programmes, ensuring successful project delivery from pre-construction through to client handover.
- Work collaboratively with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Commercial Teams, Engineering, Procurement, BIM, QA/QC, Commissioning, and Client Representatives to coordinate programme activities, monitor progress, identify project risks and constraints, optimise construction sequencing, and support informed project decision-making.
- Produce detailed programme reports, dashboards, S-curves, progress analysis, KPI reporting, delay analysis, change impact assessments, recovery programmes, and executive-level planning presentations, ensuring accurate forecasting, commercial awareness, and programme certainty throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead planning meetings, mentor Project Planners and Planning Engineers, implement planning best practices, and support tender planning, resource forecasting, logistics planning, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with client requirements and company planning standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and senior stakeholders, contributing to the successful delivery of one of Ireland's most technically advanced mission-critical construction projects.
Necessary Requirements of the Planning Manager
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline, with 8+ years' experience as a Planning Manager, Senior Planner, Lead Planner, Project Controls Manager, or Planning Engineer within Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Semiconductor, Infrastructure, or Mission-Critical Construction environments.
- Proven experience developing and managing integrated project programmes for large-scale construction projects, including critical path analysis, resource planning, earned value management, progress reporting, delay analysis, programme recovery, commissioning schedules, and stakeholder reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Project Controls, Construction Planning, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Earned Value Management (EVM), Schedule Risk Analysis, Project Reporting, Procurement Planning, Construction Sequencing, and Commissioning Planning, with experience supporting multidisciplinary project teams on high-value projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, with advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other project controls/reporting platforms.
