We are seeking an Experienced Groundworker to join our growing civil engineering teams, working on projects throughout Ireland.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced groundworker with a strong civil engineering background who is comfortable working as part of a crew across a variety of projects.
Our workload has a strong focus on civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure and groundworks, although flexibility to assist with other construction activities when required is important.
Excellent employment package available, with accommodation/digs provided for projects requiring travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all aspects of groundworks and civil engineering works.
- Drainage and underground services installation.
- Utility ducting and associated infrastructure works.
- Excavation, formation and preparation of trenches.
- Pipe laying, bedding, surround and backfilling.
- Installation of chambers, manholes and service infrastructure.
- Kerbing, footpaths and paving works.
- Concrete preparation, placing and finishing.
- Preparation of sub-bases, stone build-ups and formation levels.
- Roadworks and reinstatement works.
- Assist with setting levels and working to line and grade.
- Operate small plant and construction equipment where trained and competent.
- Work closely with machine operators, engineers, foremen and other members of the site crew.
- Read and work from drawings and follow site instructions.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship, productivity and site housekeeping.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety requirements, RAMS and site procedures.
- Assist with other civil engineering and construction activities where required.
Travel & Project Requirements
The position will involve travel to projects throughout Ireland.
Projects requiring travel will generally be for relatively short durations, with employees working as part of an established Nexus site crew.
Accommodation/digs will be provided by the company when working away from home.
Applicants should therefore be comfortable travelling nationwide and staying away from home for periods when required.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong previous experience as a Groundworker within civil engineering or construction.
- Be competent in drainage, ducting, services and general groundworks.
- Be capable of working accurately to levels and site drawings.
- Have experience working around excavators and other construction plant.
- Be comfortable working as part of a productive civil engineering crew.
- Be willing to travel nationwide for projects.
- Be flexible regarding project type and work activities.
- Have a strong attitude towards Health & Safety and quality.
- Be reliable, punctual and capable of working effectively as part of a team.
- Hold a valid Safe Pass.
- Relevant CSCS and plant tickets would be an advantage.
- A full driving licence would be an advantage.

This position would suit an experienced and versatile Groundworker who takes pride in their work and is comfortable working within a crew delivering civil engineering projects to a high standard.
We are particularly interested in individuals with strong experience in drainage, ducting, utilities, concrete works, kerbing and general civil engineering groundworks who are willing to travel as required and become a long-term member of the Nexus team.
