We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic Equine Veterinary Assistant to join our busy equine practice. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside veterinarians in a professional and rewarding environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Handling and restraining horses safely for clinical procedures.
- Preparing equipment, vehicles, and treatment areas.
- Assisting with the care and monitoring of hospitalised patients.
- Cleaning and maintaining stables, treatment areas, and equipment.
- Supporting the veterinary team during emergency and out-of-hours cases when required.
- Assisting with stock control and general yard duties.
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and biosecurity.
Essential Requirements
- Experience handling horses confidently and safely.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to assist with occasional out-of-hours work.
- Full driving licence preferred.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience in an equine veterinary practice, stud farm, racing yard, or equine facility.
- Knowledge of equine health and welfare.
- Interest in pursuing a career in the veterinary or equine industry.
