Galetech Group is an Irish-owned renewable energy and sustainability services organisation employing approximately 150 people. From our base in County Cavan we work across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain, delivering wind farm development and operations, construction services, affordable and social housing through Galetech Sustainable Living, planning consultancy, and measurement services - with an emerging hydrogen and e-fuels business.
We are growing our in-house electrical capability and are looking for a qualified electrician to join us on a permanent basis.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role with genuine breadth. You will work across four connected strands of our business:
Solar PV &and Hybrid Power
Install, test and commission solar PV systems on commercial, industrial, agricultural and residential sites
Wire inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and associated switchgear and protection
Work on hybrid systems that combine generation, storage and grid connection
Carry out fault finding, testing and certification to Irish standards
Automation and Controls
Configure and commission the control logic that makes our hybrid systems pay - time-of-use charging and discharging of battery storage, load shifting and tariff optimisation
Work with PLCs, control panels and monitoring platforms across solar-plus-storage installations
Install and commission smart building control systems
Diagnose and resolve control and communications faults on live assets
This is not aspirational - automation is already a core part of how we deliver these systems, and it is central to the role rather than an add-on.
Modular Buildings
First and second fix wiring of modular housing units in our offsite production environment
On-site connection, testing and commissioning once units are delivered
Work to programme alongside our construction and housing delivery teams
General Electrical Installation and Maintenance
First and second fix wiring on commercial buildings and traditional house builds
Distribution boards, lighting, power, containment and final connections
Planned and reactive maintenance across our own facilities and client sites
Periodic inspection, testing and certification
Key Responsiblities
Essential
Fully qualified electrician (QQI Level 6 / recognised craft certificate)
Safe Electric registered, or fully eligible to register
Strong working knowledge of the National Rules for Electrical Installations and current Irish regulations
Solid grounding in commercial and domestic installation and maintenance - first and second fix, testing and certification
Full clean driving licence
Safe Pass and Manual Handling (or willingness to obtain before start)
Comfortable working independently and to programme on live construction sites
A genuine interest in automation and control systems. You do not need to arrive with PLC experience, but you do need to want to build it. Control logic is a real and growing part of this role - if that does not appeal, this is not the job for you.
Desirable
SEAI-registered solar PV installer, or completed PV training
Experience commissioning inverters and battery storage systems
Hands-on experience with PLCs, control panels, BMS or building automation
Familiarity with monitoring platforms and control communications protocols
Working at heights / MEWP certification
Experience in offsite or modular construction
We are equally interested in a strong electrician from a commercial, industrial or agricultural background who wants to move into renewables. If you have the fundamentals and the appetite, we will invest in the specialist tickets.
