This is a varied, hands-on role involving the design, build, testing and support of microprocessor-based control and monitoring systems used in renewable-energy applications, including solar PV, wind, hydro, inverter control and system monitoring.
The role would suit a recent Level 7 or Level 8 Electronic Engineering graduate, or someone with a strong practical background in electronics, embedded systems or electrical engineering. Training and support will be provided, but we are looking for someone who is practical, curious and keen to learn.
The role
You will be involved in:
- Designing and developing microprocessor-based electronic products
- Writing, testing and maintaining embedded firmware
- Working with Raspberry Pi, Arduino and similar platforms
- Programming in Python, JavaScript, PHP, HTML and related technologies
- Building, testing, debugging and improving prototype and production hardware
- Working with RS485, UART, Modbus and similar communication systems
- Maintaining web-based technical tools and calculators
- Producing wiring guides, test procedures and technical support notes
- Assisting with customer and installer technical support
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone with:
- A Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related discipline
- Good practical electronics skills, including fault-finding, soldering, testing and debugging
- Some experience with microcontrollers, embedded firmware or practical electronics projects
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- An interest in renewable energy and practical engineering
- A problem-solving attitude and good communication skills
- The ability to work independently as part of a small team
You do not need to know everything on day one. More important is a genuine interest in electronics, software and renewable-energy systems, and the willingness to learn.
