Stop commuting to Dublin.
We make frozen meals for creches, nurseries and school meal programmes across Ireland. Around 50 people, family owned, based on the M1 in Dundalk. We are looking for one person to own our software and our systems.
Not a team. Not a ticket queue. You.
What you would actually do
Mostly build. We are rolling out Odoo across invoicing, stock and batch traceability. We have internal applications that need taking from working-most-of-the-time to properly maintainable. We have manual processes that should not be manual, and a food safety audit that needs traceability working properly at dispatch.
The rest is keeping the estate healthy: site network, servers, the scanners on the production floor, backups that actually restore. We only have about 7 full-time computer users, so this is not a support job. But you own it, because there is nobody else.
Roughly 70% building, 30% running. We are telling you that upfront because it is the truth.
Being straight with you
You will inherit code written with AI assistance by someone who is not a programmer. It works. It is not documented. There are no tests.
Making that solid is part of the job, and it is not the fun part.
You will occasionally fix a printer.
If that has put you off, no hard feelings. If you are reading it thinking "I could sort that out in six months", we should talk.
Who this suits
Someone with 3 to 6 years building things somewhere small enough that they owned what they shipped. Comfortable writing code and comfortable when the network falls over. Can explain a decision to a production supervisor and to a managing director in the same afternoon.
Possibly someone who has done time somewhere large and would quite like their work to visibly matter again.
What we offer
€50,000 to €58,000 depending on experience
Pension via auto-enrolment
Real budget and real autonomy. You decide the stack.
Direct line to the Managing Director. One layer, no committee.
Work that is visible. When you fix something, the whole place notices on Monday.
What the job is really about
We feed several thousand children every week. The food has to be there on Monday morning, it has to be safe, and it has to be right for the child with the allergy. Everything you build here is in service of that. It is not abstract, and you will see the result of it.
To apply
Send a CV and a few honest lines on the messiest system you have ever inherited and what you did about it. No cover letter required.
Process: a call, a technical interview with an independent assessor, and a paid trial on a real problem from our backlog. We pay for your time.
