Full job description

The Imperial Hotel Dundalk is seeking an experienced, reliable and hardworking Housekeeping Porter to join our housekeeping team.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' previous experience in housekeeping, hotel portering or a similar hospitality role, with excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of hotel cleanliness standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the hotel, including public areas, corridors, stairways, lifts and back-of-house areas.
Transport and distribute clean linen, towels, toiletries, cleaning products and other housekeeping supplies.
Assist Room Attendants with the cleaning and preparation of guest bedrooms when required.
Collect and dispose of rubbish in accordance with hotel procedures.
Keep housekeeping stores, service areas and equipment clean, tidy and organised.
Ensure housekeeping supplies are correctly stored and readily available.
Assist with moving housekeeping equipment, linen and supplies safely throughout the hotel.
Assist with the setup, cleaning and preparation of function rooms and other hotel areas.
Report maintenance issues, damage, lost property or health and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Follow all hotel cleaning, hygiene, health and safety procedures.
Maintain a professional appearance and courteous manner at all times.
Respond to guest requests in a friendly and helpful manner.
Work closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor, Room Attendants and other hotel departments.
Help maintain the high standards expected of a 4-star hotel.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years' previous experience in housekeeping, hotel portering or a similar hospitality position.
Fluent English – spoken and written – is essential.
Previous experience working in a hotel environment is highly desirable.
Good knowledge of housekeeping, cleaning and hygiene standards.
Excellent attention to detail.
Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional and friendly attitude towards guests and colleagues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically fit and comfortable with lifting and moving linen, equipment and supplies.
Ability to work in a fast-paced hotel environment.
Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays when required.
