Full job description

The Company

McMahons is one of Ireland's leading builders providers, supplying building materials, timber, plumbing, hardware, roofing, insulation, and construction products to trade professionals, contractors, developers, and DIY customers. We have been providing quality building supplies and DIY materials to the trade and public for over 200 years. The group consists of a network of 14 stores, as well as a Truss Manufacturing plant and 3 Hardwood & Sheet Material branches.

The Role

We are now seeking applications for a position of Accounts Assistant on a fixed term 18 months contract for our Head Office, which is located in Ashbourne Hall on the Dock Road in Limerick.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious candidate, who is interested in working in a busy environment as part of a small team, as well as continuing to develop their skills as a finance professional.

Key Responsibilities:

Record stock & overhead supplier invoices for multiple cost centres

Prepare supplier statement reconciliations and deal with invoice queries

Assist with monthly general journals and bank reconciliations

Support the Finance Manager with month end processes, management accounts and reports preparation

Assist Accounts Payable and Finance Department with other daily tasks

The Person

The following mix of experience and attributes will be required by the successful candidate:

Previous experience in Accounts and Finance administration or relevant degree

Good understanding of basic Accounting Principals

Strong Numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

Be proficient in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

An ability to operate in a team environment and be a team player is essential

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are important
