Join Wills Bros on the Dublin Airport underpass project, a major civil engineering and groundworks scheme delivering a 1.1 km underpass beneath live taxiways and runway infrastructure.
We are hiring experienced Excavator Drivers to operate 10-ton to 50-ton excavators on deep drainage, bulk earthworks, trenching and piling support works as part of this high-profile airport infrastructure project.
You will join the project team within a Joint Venture delivery model, contributing to a complex, safety-critical airport construction project in a live operational environment.
The successful candidates will operate excavators safely and efficiently, carrying out excavation works, trenching, grading, loading and material movement while supporting groundworks teams in line with project requirements and Health and Safety standards.
Applicants must meet all regulatory security requirements, including clearance by the relevant aviation authorities and An Garda Síochána, to obtain and maintain airside security clearance and an Airport ID pass.
About the Role
This role is best suited to experienced Excavator Drivers with a strong background in civil engineering, deep drainage, bulk earthworks, piling support, trench excavation and working safely around live services and heavy plant.
Key Responsibilities
Operate 10-ton to 50-ton excavators safely and efficiently on a busy civil engineering project
Carry out deep drainage works, including excavation, trenching, battering, grading and safe working around live services
Complete bulk earthworks, including loading, moving, placing and grading materials to project specifications
Support piling works, including excavation around piling areas, preparation of working platforms and assisting the site team as required
Excavate safely around structures, services, other plant and site personnel
Work closely with groundworkers, banksmen, supervisors and engineers to complete works safely and accurately
Follow site drawings, line and level instructions, method statements and supervisor directions
Carry out daily machine checks and report any defects, hazards or maintenance issues immediately
Maintain a clean and safe working area and support good housekeeping standards across the site
Comply with all Health & Safety requirements, site procedures, airport security rules and project standards at all times
Requirements
Previous experience operating 10-ton to 50-ton excavators on civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure projects.
Strong experience in deep drainage, bulk earthworks, trenching, excavation and piling support works.
Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates.
Valid CSCS Excavator ticket or equivalent plant operator certification.
Experience working safely around live services, heavy plant and busy site environments.
Ability to work with banksmen and follow site safety instructions at all times.
Good understanding of Irish Health and Safety regulations and site procedures.
Ability to read basic site levels, follow instructions and work accurately with groundworkers and engineers.
Full driving licence and own transport preferred.
Reliable, safety-focused and able to work well as part of a site team.
