Full job description

Conack is one of Ireland's leading Design Build contractors, delivering high-quality projects across the residential, healthcare, commercial and mixed-use sectors. With over €325 million of secured Design Build projects this year, we are continuing our growth and are seeking an experienced Senior Architect to play a key role in delivering our expanding portfolio.

Projects consist:

Healthcare - 51 million euro
Mixed Use - 75 million euro
Residential - 150 million euro
Modular - 30 million
Conservation - 10 million euro
Pharma - 10 million euro

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and progressive contractor where design excellence, innovation and collaboration are at the heart of every project.

The Role

Reporting to the senior management team, the Senior Architect will take ownership of the design process from tender stage through to project completion, ensuring that projects are coordinated, buildable, compliant and delivered to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will act as the central link between our clients, external design consultants and Conack's construction teams, ensuring seamless integration between design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership

Lead the design process from tender through pre-construction, construction and project handover.
Develop, coordinate and continuously improve project designs to maximise quality, efficiency, programme and value.
Provide technical leadership throughout the design lifecycle.
Drive innovation through the application of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and other emerging construction technologies.
Review design solutions to ensure buildability, cost effectiveness and compliance with client requirements and statutory regulations.
Identify and resolve design issues proactively before they impact programme or construction.

2. Design Team Management
Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary external design consultants throughout each project.
Lead and coordinate architects, structural and civil engineers, building services (ME) consultants, acoustics consultants, PSDP, DAC consultants and other specialist designers.
Chair design coordination meetings and ensure timely delivery of design information.
Monitor consultant performance, design programmes and deliverables.
Ensure all design documentation is coordinated, accurate and issued in accordance with project programmes.

3. Construction Delivery Collaboration
Work closely with Conack's project management and site teams to ensure design intent is successfully translated into construction.
Provide technical support to construction teams throughout project delivery.
Coordinate design changes and manage design-related queries during construction.
Ensure effective communication between consultants, clients and internal stakeholders.
Support successful project delivery through proactive problem-solving and collaborative working.

The Ideal Candidate
Significant experience in a Design Manager or Senior Architect role within the Design Build sector.
Experience delivering large-scale residential, healthcare, commercial or mixed-use developments.
Strong technical understanding of building design, construction methodologies and project delivery.
Experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams.
Excellent knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, planning requirements and statutory compliance.
Strong understanding of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and innovative construction practices.
Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
A proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
