The Opportunity
The Engineering and Asset Management (E&AM) Team now have an exciting opportunity for a customer focussed, technical and resilient individual to oversee and manage processes for the delivery of high-voltage onshore transmission infrastructure asset projects.
As the Manager you will be responsible for ensuring robust processes are in place and adhered to provide quality assurance for Transmission projects through all project phases.
You will Lead E&AM through audits for Client Engineering, working closely with internal and external auditors.
We will look to you to provide oversight of the quality system and quality control to Client Engineers who carry out the client engineering function for onshore infrastructure.
You will be expected to have significant expertise in High Voltage technology, including OHL, cables and substations. Your input will be crucial in ensuring that projects are expedited and delivered to transmission standard and in doing so enabling Ireland to meet its 2030 renewable targets. You will be expected to work closely with the Onshore Engineer Manager, Technical Authority and Offshore Engineer Manager.
The Team
The Infrastructure office within EirGrid comprises highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. The Infrastructure Office is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes, in collaboration with partners, customers & communities.
The Engineering & Asset Management Function is responsible for undertaking four key roles; asset management, technical authority, onshore engineering and offshore engineering.
The Technical Authortiy team are responsible for managing the integrity of processes and Engineering procedures to ensure E&AM deliver projects according to EirGrid TSO requirements.
About you
The successful candidate will have the following skills & experience:

Engineering degree in a relevant area and have specialized training in Quality management or equivalent qualification.

Typically, 10 + years relevant post-qualification experience.

Experienced and hands-on quality manager; experienced (lead) auditor is a plus.

Good technical knowledge in high voltage transmission design with strong knowledge of transmission technology (HV cables, substations, and OHL) including new and emerging technologies.

Deep knowledge of ISO 9001.
- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on high quality report writing and ability to communicate technical issues clearly and effectively.
- Ability to lead and influence others to move towards a common vision or goal and to work collaboratively with and through others.

Demonstrable experience leading high performing teams, with an ability to persuade and motivate others in achieving business objectives.
- Strong understanding of the requirements of stakeholders and industry for the transmission system and associated developments.

Ability to coach and mentor staff to provide high quality engineering service.
