Job Description & Summary

As a Senior Associate in the Tax Risk & Controversy team, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive experience, helping our clients navigate through Revenue interventions and, more broadly, manage their tax risk. This is an emerging and dynamic area wit hin Tax, making it an exciting time to get involved.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for tax professionals to pivot into a high-growth specialism and bro aden their expertise across Tax Risk & Controversy. We are committed to your development and will provide dedicated t ime and resources f or upskilling across all areas of Tax Risk & Controversy , ensuring you succeed.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Managing the Revenue intervention process and liaising with Revenue throughout same

Carrying out pre-audit testing and reviews across various tax heads to identify areas for disclosure to Revenue.

Assisting in the preparation of Qualifying Disclosures

Engaging with Revenue to agree an appropriate tax settlement and the application of interest and penalties on same

Advising clients on their rights, Revenue powers and strategy in managing Revenue interventions

Carrying out assessments of clients’ tax controls and supporting them in developing a Tax Control Framework

General Responsibilities:

Coach team members and drive the team to make a difference and deliver results in a responsible, authentic and passionate manner.

Have an active role in training our junior staff members promoting a learning culture.

Bring business knowledge, innovation and insight to create value for clients and the firm.

Driving management of risk management and compliance procedures.

Operate and collaborate effectively with a mindset that transcends geographic and cultural boundaries.

Directing and driving the success of multiple engagements.

Be responsible for managing within budgetary and time constraints while providing a high-level of client satisfaction.

Be part of and contribute to the collaborative working environment.

About you – Key skills and competencies:

3 + years desired of tax experience, working in the Revenue Commissioners or a Big 4 firm / mid-tier practice or similar

Ideally the candidate should have experience of Revenue audits but this is not a prerequisite.

Tax or Accountancy qualification (or qualified by experience) with a strong academic record.

Expert at directing and driving the success of multiple engagements.

Business Acumen - use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the market and utilise this information to assist your clients in making innovative business decisions.

Relationship management - ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships.

Creative - demonstrate an ability to contribute to new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problems.
