My Client, FireTail, is now on the lookout for a Mid-Senior Golang Developer.
About FireTail
Founded in 2022, FireTail provides a complete end-to-end solution for AI security, protecting organizations from the evolving threats and expanded attack surface created by rapid AI adoption and shadow AI. Through its comprehensive AI Security Governance platform, FireTail offers end-to-end coverage across code, data, workforce, and cloud, with key capabilities including continuous AI discovery, security posture management, testing, and centralized activity logging. Recognized as a final four selection in the Blackhat Startup Spotlight 2025, FireTail is headquartered in Northern Virginia with international offices in Dublin and Helsinki.
The Opportunity
This role is perfect for a passionate engineer who loves building software that runs close to the metal — across Windows, macOS, and Linux. You'll lead development on our cross-platform endpoint agent, a critical component of the FireTail platform that protects our customers wherever their workloads run. You'll work alongside experienced developers, contributing to the core agent architecture, runtime behaviour, and update mechanisms, while also playing a key role in ensuring our codebase is well-documented and maintainable. We are seeking to hire someone directly to the team in Ireland, or via an alternative working arrangement in Finland or another EU/EEA countries.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, and deploy a robust, performant, cross-platform endpoint agent in Go that runs as a native application/service on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Go code, with careful attention to memory footprint, CPU usage, and reliability — endpoint agents need to be good citizens on the machines they run on.
Handle the realities of desktop and OS-level development: services and daemons, installers and packaging (MSI, PKG, DEB/RPM), code signing, auto-update mechanisms, and platform-specific APIs.
Design and implement secure communication between the agent and our backend services.
Use AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code, Copilot, etc.) as a regular part of your workflow — we believe in leveraging these tools to ship faster without compromising on quality.
Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and learning from your peers.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the agent, its build and release process, and its integration points. This includes:
Writing clear and concise comments within the codebase.
Developing and updating user stories, technical specifications, and design documents.
Creating guides and tutorials for new team members on setting up the development environment and building the agent on each target platform.
Contributing to internal knowledge bases and wikis.
Documenting solutions to common technical challenges and best practices.
Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across platforms — including the fun ones that only reproduce on one OS.
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Go, endpoint security, and desktop application engineering.
Contribute to the overall architecture and design discussions for the agent and its surrounding ecosystem.
What We're Looking For
Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience.
Go Experience:Proven five years experience designing, developing, and shipping production-grade applications in Go.
Desktop/Endpoint Development:Some experience building desktop applications, system services, daemons, or agents that run on end-user machines — not just server-side software.
Cross-Platform Awareness:Comfortable reasoning about the differences between Windows, macOS, and Linux, and willing to build and test on all three.
AI Tooling:Willing and enthusiastic to use AI-assisted coding tools as part of day-to-day development.
Foundational Knowledge:Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and systems programming concepts.
Version Control:Familiarity with Git and GitHub/GitLab.
Problem-Solving Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to Detail:Meticulous attention to detail in both code and documentation — endpoint agents that misbehave erode customer trust quickly.
Language:Fluency in English.
Communication:Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proactive and Eager to Learn:A self-starter with a strong desire to learn and grow.
Team Player:Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Location: Ireland (direct employment); Finland, or another EEA/EU country (alternative arrangement can be discussed with the right candidate).
Bonus Points If You Have
Python experience— much of our wider platform is in Python and you'll occasionally touch it.
Experience with code signing, notarisation (macOS), and software distribution on each major OS.
Experience with packaging and installer technologies (MSI/WiX, PKG, DEB/RPM, Homebrew, winget, etc.).
Familiarity with low-level OS APIs (Win32, syscall, launchd, systemd, etc.) and CGo where needed.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly multi-platform build matrices.
Understanding of cybersecurity principles, particularly endpoint security, AI security
Experience with Go testing frameworks and table-driven tests.
Any personal projects or a portfolio showcasing your Go or desktop development work.
What We Offer
Competitive salary and a potential 10% annual bonus based on personal and team performance.
Comprehensive health insurance coverage.
Opportunity to work on exciting and impactful projects in the cutting-edge field of AI security.
A supportive and collaborative work environment where your contributions are valued.
Mentorship from experienced developers.
Opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning.
Fully Remote
Up to 3 months a year, working outside of Ireland
Company pension scheme (matched up to 3%)
Work from Home allowance (3€/day; Republic of Ireland only)
