Qorvo is a leader in Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, enabling precise location, secure ranging and wireless connectivity across Mobile, Consumer, Automotive and Industrial markets. Based in our Dublin design centre, this role will help validate next-generation UWB semiconductor products used in millions of devices worldwide.
As a Principal Silicon Systems Validation Engineer, you will define and drive validation strategy from architecture engagement and silicon bring-up through production release. This role combines hands-on technical execution with principal-level ownership of validation methodology, complex system-level debug, cross-functional technical leadership and mentoring across silicon, firmware, hardware, RF, software and system domains.
Key Responsibilities
Define and lead validation and evaluation strategy, plans, methodologies and coverage for next-generation UWB SoCs, subsystems and semiconductor products.
Provide technical leadership for silicon bring-up, functional validation, performance characterization, production readiness and complex system-level debug.
Architect, develop and improve automated validation, characterization, data analysis and test frameworks to increase coverage, efficiency, scalability and quality.
Develop embedded and host-side software to exercise silicon functionality, accelerate debug and support advanced validation activities.
Lead root-cause analysis of complex silicon, firmware, hardware, RF, software and system-level issues, translating findings into actionable engineering recommendations.
Partner with IC design, architecture, firmware, software, systems, applications, product engineering, test, customer engineering and operations teams to resolve technical issues, improve yield, productivity, quality and product robustness.
Influence architecture and design decisions by identifying validation risks, design implementation gaps, coverage needs and system-level trade-offs early in the product lifecycle.
Mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, communicate risks and recommendations to stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in validation infrastructure, documentation, methodology and engineering processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
12+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience, leading silicon validation and evaluation, SoC bring-up, semiconductor characterization, embedded/firmware validation, RF or system-level debug, product engineering, or related semiconductor engineering experience.
Demonstrated ability to define validation strategies, develop test plans, improve methodologies and lead complex technical execution across the full product lifecycle.
Proven experience leading debug and root-cause analysis across silicon, firmware, hardware, RF, software and system-level domains, with strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
Excellent communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, present findings to stakeholders and mentor engineers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior ownership of semiconductor, SoC validation or complex system validation programs.
Experience with wireless technologies such as UWB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GNSS, cellular or other RF systems.
Strong background in advanced test automation, data analysis, validation infrastructure development and tools such as Python, LabVIEW or similar frameworks.
Experience with RF measurements, mixed-signal, digital or analog fundamentals, PCB design and bring-up, hardware debugging or board-level validation.
Familiarity with statistical analysis, characterization techniques, production correlation, FPGA, emulation or pre-silicon validation environments.
