The Principal Data Analyst is a senior role in the Clinical Solutions - Risk Adjustment Team and this role is accountable for developing and scaling advanced reporting, analytics, and AI-driven solutions that improve organizational performance. Partnering closely with cross-functional leaders, they drive efficiency and effectiveness through automated insights, modern tooling, and data-driven decision-making.
The successful candidate will analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, identify growth opportunities, and guide strategic actions, while continuously advancing analytics capabilities across teams. They will collaborate cross-functionally with various business and data analytics teams, have proven business analysis experience and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and adapt to changing business needs.

What you will do:

Develop, implement, and scale advanced analytics, reporting, and AI-driven solutions to improve organizational performance and decision-making

Develop a deep understanding of data and business processes related to In Office Assessment

Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating findings into actionable recommendations

Research and develop innovative analytics to generate value for Optum and our clients

Use data expertise to analyze data and provide solutions to optimize the performance of operations and data processing tasks

Design data integration processes utilizing AI, automation, process controls, and monitoring tools to ensure data quality

Validate data pipelines and provide design inputs to build scalable data and analytics processes/data flows
-
Provide quality checks to ensure high standard and accurate data

Ensure data integrity, quality, and compliance through structured validation, monitoring, and controls

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in data analytics, statistics, engineering, or a related quantitative field

Demonstrated extensive experience in complex data analysis using relational and non relational (NoSQL) databases, including mining large datasets and working with SQL, Python, Databricks, or similar programming languages

Demonstrated ability to drive data driven business solutions in complex data environments utilizing multiple data sources

Proven experience delivering end to end AI and analytics solutions, including data analysis, validation, reporting, and operationalization

Proven ability to drive change and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels through technical discussions and analytical insights
-
Demonstrated solid communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex data insights for non technical audiences

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs in a fast paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of Risk Adjustment within healthcare or data centric roles

Proven experience mentoring or leading data analysts
-
Demonstrated knowledge of data architecture, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), data warehouse design, and large scale data processing
