The Team
The IT infrastructure team is responsible for the design, delivery and maintenance of IT platforms to support critical corporate, market and power systems business needs. The scope of the function includes the management and maintenance of servers, storage, database, email, networks, telecommunications systems and security solutions in line with corporate strategies. Solutions are deployed both in-house and externally and are provided in the most cost-effective manner.
Job Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Database Specialist who will assist in the development and support of EirGrid’s Oracle, PostGres and SQL Server estate which underpin the organisation’s corporate functions and mission-critical power system operation and market functions.
The focus of the role will be to support major programs of work to upgrade and implement in premise and cloud-based systems.
The successful applicant will contribute to the overall success of EirGrid by working as part of a team of IT professionals, undertaking senior database administration duties and driving project delivery and solution optimisation.
About You
- An IT degree or recognised qualification in a relevant technical discipline
- 4+ years’ experience in delivering and/or operating database solutions
- Significant technical knowledge of several of the following technical components:
- Extensive experience working with Database Administration (Oracle , PostGres , SQLServer)
- Database Backup and Recovery procedures (RMAN), familiarity with CommVault preferential.
- Proficient experience working with Oracle Technologies RAC , OEM , DataGuard
- Experience Database cloning/refreshes and migrations
- Experience in Exadata, Golden Gate
- Previous experience working on Oracle Upgrades and data migration projects
- Experience in patching, securing and resolving issues with Oracle Databases
- Strong knowledge on the set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Oracle database
- Hands on experience with Oracle Engineered Systems
- Database and Cloud Certification
- Effective communicator, both in verbal and written communications
- Successful track record in delivering IT projects
