Programme Director

About Our Client

Our client is undertaking a programme of transformation and modernisation and is seeking an experienced Programme Director to provide strategic leadership, governance and delivery assurance across complex technology programmes and engagements.

The successful candidate will work across internal teams, specialist resources and external suppliers to ensure programmes are effectively governed, delivered and transitioned.

About the Role

This is a senior programme leadership position with responsibility for overseeing transformation, modernisation and resource augmentation engagements.

The Programme Director will provide overall governance, manage senior stakeholder relationships and ensure effective delivery across programme activities, resources, risks, dependencies and financial management.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership & Delivery

Lead large scale transformation programmes.
Provide overall delivery assurance across programme activities.
Establish and maintain effective programme governance structures.
Coordinate suppliers, architects and delivery teams.
Ensure successful mobilisation of specialist resources.
Drive effective transition and knowledge transfer.

Governance & Stakeholder Management

Chair steering committees and executive reviews.
Drive stakeholder engagement across programme activities.
Provide clear and timely programme reporting.
Manage relationships with senior and executive stakeholders.
Ensure programme objectives and delivery priorities remain aligned.

Financial, Risk & Dependency Management

Manage programme budgets and financial performance.
Identify, manage and mitigate programme risks.
Monitor dependencies across workstreams and delivery teams.
Ensure appropriate escalation and resolution of programme issues.

Essential Skills & Experience

10+ years' programme leadership experience.
Proven experience delivering technology transformation programmes.
Experience managing blended teams comprising internal and external resources.
Public sector or regulated industry experience.
Proven executive stakeholder engagement experience.
Experience in risk, dependency and financial management.
Strong programme governance and delivery management experience.
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Qualifications

MSP Practitioner.
PRINCE2 Practitioner.
PMP.
Agile Programme Management.
ITIL.

What Good Looks Like

For this role, priority should be given to candidates who can demonstrate:

Significant transformation programme leadership experience.
Strong programme governance and executive stakeholder management.
Experience managing complex delivery environments and blended teams.
Proven management of risks, dependencies and programme finances.
Experience working alongside client teams and specialist technology resources.
Public sector or regulated sector experience.
Experience supporting Microsoft Azure, discovery and assessment workshops, and modernisation programmes would be beneficial where relevant to the wider programme environment.
