LendWell builds AI-powered software for mortgage brokers across Ireland and the UK — turning a slow, document-heavy, manual process into something fast and intelligent. We're post-seed, scaling toward Series A, and the platform underneath our product is where the hardest, most interesting engineering happens.
At our heart, we're built around the technical capability to go from unsorted raw files to densely connected entity knowledge graphs -- documents, images, screenshots, audio, video. We use LLM and OCR models and sophisticated architecture to accomplish this at scale and speed.
The role
We're hiring a senior engineer to own systems and projects at our architectural frontier: a claims-based data model, a macroservice architecture, and the data and document pipelines that power the whole product.
You'll start by owning and leading a significant API integrations project end to end — so strong API design and integration skills are essential — and grow into broader ownership of a platform domain, setting technical direction within it and leading multi-engineer work.
This is deep, hardcore platform work for someone who wants real ownership over systems that matter.
What you'll do
- Own and lead our API integrations project from day one — design, build, and ship
- Own a domain within our platform — architecture, tradeoffs, scaling, and failure modes
- Build and evolve our claims-based data modeling and macroservice architecture
- Work across our Python/FastAPI + GraphQL stack, GCP-native (Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud SQL)
- Push forward document processing and applied LLM systems in production
- Set technical direction within your area, raise the bar in design and code review, and write proposals others can act on
- Mentor and grow earlier-career engineers, and take part in hiring
What we're looking for
- Strong API skills — designing, building, and integrating APIs (REST/GraphQL, third-party integrations, auth, versioning, reliability) — a must-have
- Deep expertise in Python and back-end systems, ideally with FastAPI and GraphQL
- Strong systems-level thinking — sound judgment on data modeling, distributed architecture, tradeoffs, scaling, and risk
- Hands-on experience with GCP-native infrastructure (Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, or equivalents)
- Experience with document processing and/or applied LLM systems in production a strong plus
- Reliable execution: identifies what should be done, not just how, and manages ambiguity without hand-holding
- Experience mentoring engineers and shaping how a team builds
- Fintech or regulated-industry experience a plus
Pay: €60,000.00-€130,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Dublin, County Dublin
