Full job description

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team. Working on our fleet of buses, you will play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and reliability standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic who takes pride in their work and enjoys working in a busy workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on our fleet of buses.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance inspections and complete scheduled servicing.
Carry out safety inspections and ensure all work complies with company and legal standards.
Prepare vehicles for CVRT inspections and carry out any necessary repairs.
Respond to vehicle breakdowns and complete roadside repairs where required.
Complete maintenance records and job documentation accurately.
Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to prioritise repairs and minimise vehicle downtime.
Ensure the workshop is kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
Assist in maintaining parts and tool inventories where required.

Essential Requirements

Qualified Diesel/Bus Mechanic or equivalent recognised mechanical qualification.
Experience working on commercial vehicles, buses, coaches, or HGVs.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Good understanding of diesel engines, braking systems, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Full clean driving licence.

Desirable

Experience working on PSV or coach fleets.
Category D (Bus) or Category C (Truck) driving licence.
Experience with diagnostic software and electronic vehicle systems.
Welding or fabrication experience would be an advantage, but not essential.
