Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Provide support ensuring compliance to existing ISO quality standards & management systems within Mercury Engineering.
- Manage the QA/QC portal on Mercury SharePoint For the Fire Protection Business Unit, ensuring up to date information is available. Developing SOP’s and Updating our Fire Protection Controlled Documents.
- Assist to define, implement and maintain Quality Standards on site through Compliance audits.
- Prepare and maintain documentation in compliance with the appropriate regulatory requirements as available.
- Manage and maintain Quality Plan’s / Manual’s, Documents, and Systems.
- Ensure that the Clients quality plans, policies and procedures are met by Mercury Engineering’s procedures and standard of work
- Carry out internal audits in relation to SOP procedures and installed work on sites.
- Participate in external audits - Preparation for ISO Audits – 9001 , LPC Sprinkler 1048 Audits ( Bi-Annual ).
- Closeout actions that may arise out of internal and external audits
- Maintain and follow up on corrective actions and non-conformances raised.
- Drive continuous improvement and best practices in site Quality systems “Right First Time”
- Prepare reports on Quality System performance as required
- Advise Manager on all QA issues and Monthly Reporting KPI's0
- Implement and maintain EHS management systems across all project phases.
- Ensure compliance with Mercury Engineering’s Safety Management System and relevant statutory EHS legislation.
- Coordinate the development of method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action, and permits to work.
- Monitor and report on project safety indicators and ensure good safety practices are upheld.
- Conduct ongoing COSHH assessments and manage hazardous substances.
- Perform regular site audits and inspections, documenting findings and driving corrective actions.
- Provide EHS input at site meetings and forums, identifying risks and recommending improvements.
- Advise management, safety representatives, and employees on EHS matters.
- Maintain records of statutory inspections for tools, plant, and project activities.
- Coordinate site inductions, training, and ensure PPE availability.
- Organise & Lead toolbox talks and assist in accident investigations and reporting.
- Ensure welfare and hygiene facilities are properly managed.
- Support waste reduction and recycling initiatives in line with project policies
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- A relevant Third Level or Professional Qualification as a Quality / EHS Engineer.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within strict deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Good organisational and planning skills
- Excellent work and personal ethics that include trustworthiness, commitment, and empathy
- Confident, creative, and energetic approach to addressing all quality-related issues
- Ability to produce quality written reports
- Proficient in the use of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
