AECOM's Energy Business Unit houses three specialised practices — renewables (including hydropower), electrical transmission & distribution and in the UK only, nuclear. Each practice plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy, offering innovative solutions that balance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Renewables
We’re committed to playing our part in the urgent transition from carbon-intensive energy sources to less centralised and more flexible energy systems. Our teams of energy professionals link up across our global network of offices to provide solutions, designs, and support to clients in multiple technical and deployment areas such as: hydropower, on and offshore wind power, solar power, carbon capture, alternative fuels, hydrogen and, crucially, energy demand assessment and carbon reduction. With an associated deep commitment to sustainable solutions, we combine our engineering and scientific skills with those of our environmental colleagues to try to achieve equitable and biodiverse outcomes.

Are you ready to take on the role of Renewables Portfolio Lead Ireland in our rapidly expanding renewable energy team?
We are currently seeking to appoint an individual to lead our Renewables practice in Ireland. Reporting directly to and working closely with the UK & Ireland Renewables Director, you will be a key member of the Renewables leadership team for the UK and Ireland region.
In this role, you will lead and manage the Renewables practice in Ireland, with a specific focus upon work winning, project delivery, resource management, and people management and engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our successful team with a focus on people, clients, technical excellence & quality, and operational efficiencies & sustainable growth. Your exceptional leadership skills will be instrumental in driving innovation and delivering a better world.
As a leader you will be responsible for fostering a culture of success, engagement, and development within the team while ensuring the successful management of projects from inception to completion. You will bring your deep understanding of the Irish Renewables energy market, coupled with your people and strategic thinking to drive success across your business area. You will utilise your extensive experience with leading highly dynamic and diverse teams to lead the design and delivery of major projects, whilst driving data-led performance improvements.
Here’s what you’ll do:

Lead, manage and grow our incredible Renewables team for the Ireland region.

Identify and secure new business opportunities while ensuring client satisfaction with AECOM's performance.

Drive project delivery excellence, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and with high quality results.

Collaborate with project managers and technical experts to allocate resources effectively and optimise project performance.

Work with the Environment & Energy Client and Sector teams to develop and implement a growth plan aligned to the Strategic Plan.

Identify and engage with key stakeholders for client projects, establishing effective engagement strategies to ensure resources are available for projects.

Champion a proactive approach to work winning by identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and participating in proposal development.

Drive a culture where AECOM is recognised as a great place to work, promoting staff engagement and retention.

Attract new talent and lead recruitment within the Renewables practice in Ireland.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to delivery multi-disciplinary projects and programs, showcasing our excellence in work winning.

Oversee project management from prepositioning and proposal development to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with high-quality results.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
Here’s what we’re looking for:

Extensive experience in leadership roles, preferably within the energy consultancy industry.

Extensive knowledge of the Irish Renewables market.
-
Strong track record of driving business development.
-
Demonstrated success in developing, growing, leading, and motivating diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
-
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, etc.) or equivalent relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred.
-
Proven experience in leading diverse teams and leading projects of varying scales.
-
Proven track record in developing and growing client relationships.
-
Strong understanding of the energy and renewables sector
-
Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.

Flexibility, proactive approach to work, and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
