This position is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for permanency upon successful completion of the contract period. The role is based on our weekend shift (Fri - Sun) and provides an excellent opportunity to join a growing manufacturing team in a technically challenging environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Kiefel Thermoforming machines, working as part of a production team to manufacture products to the highest quality standards while meeting safety, productivity, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and report all accidents, incidents, and near misses to the Safety Officer and Line Leader.
- Complete tool changes and machine set-ups, including thermoforming and roller press equipment, to facilitate production and roll changes.
- Manufacture products in accordance with quality specifications and work instructions.
- Complete all required process checks and measurements accurately and within specified timeframes.
- Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ensuring a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
- Notify Stores personnel when material stock levels are low.
- Escalate any issues relating to tools, equipment, machinery, moulds, facilities, or production lines to the Line Leader or Production Supervisor.
- Obtain Quality approval for any concessions or deviations from product specifications.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
- Ensure all non-conforming materials and products are managed in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete line clearance activities at the beginning and end of each production run in line with SOP requirements.
- Ensure tooling is removed, protected, and stored correctly after each production run.
- Raise maintenance work orders through the relevant maintenance system when tooling defects or equipment issues are identified.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Technical Operator, Process Technician, or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience operating, setting, troubleshooting, and performing tool changes on thermoforming machinery.
- Experience working with KMD machinery and/or Kiefel thermoforming equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve equipment, tooling, and process issues.
- Experience completing machine set-ups and process adjustments to optimise performance and minimise downtime.
- Working knowledge of GMP, ISO Quality Standards, and manufacturing best practices.
- Experience carrying out quality inspections, process monitoring, and production documentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while achieving safety, quality, and production targets.
