St. Michael's House (SMH) is a leading organisation in the field of disability in Ireland and has a turnover of almost 133M; a staff complement of over 1,800 employees and delivers services to over 2,300 children and adults, their families, and carers in over 170 locations across the greater Dublin area.
St. Michaels House has a research partnership with UCD and runs QQI accredited programs of education up to and including Honours Degree Level through its Open Training College.
St. Michaels House provides the following comprehensive suite of services:
- Children: Early Services, Pre-school, Mainstream National Schools, Special Schools, Specialized Special Schools i.e., Autism and Physical Disability, Mental Health, and Medical Services.
- Adult: Day Services, Local Centers, Vocational Centers, Training Centers, Supported Employment, Individualized Services, Services for the Older Persons, Mental Health and Medical Services.
- Respite: Formal Respite Services, Link, Community Respite, In-Home Support, Host Families, and Individualized Respite.
- Residential: Community Houses, High Dependency Nursing Houses, Alzheimers Centre, Independent Living, Challenging Behaviour, Individualised Residential Services.
- Ancillary Services: Leisure Centre and Recreational Program.
- Clinical Services: Psychiatry, Medical, Psychology, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, and Language Therapy, Dietician, and Infection Control.
- Through the Open Training College, the provision of a range of Accredited Programs for staff up to Honors Third Level Programs. Research Programs in Partnership with UCD.
- Corporate/Administration Services: Human Resources, Finance, IT, Training and Development, Health and Safety, Fundraising, Transport, Maintenance Technical Services and Property Development, Safeguarding and HIQA communications
Role Overview
The Purchasing Officer will support the delivery of purchasing operations within the IFMS framework, ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with financial controls.
Qualifications and/ or Experience:
- A Third level degree in Finance or relevant field.
- Experience using financial systems or ERP systems [e.g. IFMS, SAP, Business Central]
- Experience in finance, purchasing, or accounts payable
- Previous administrative experience
Skills, Competencies and/or Knowledge
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work in a high-volume processing environment
- Customer service orientation
- Good IT skills, including experience with systems and data entry

- Ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to support peak workload periods [e.g. go-live / hypercare phase]
- Commitment to high standards of service delivery
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by management

Selection Process:
The Selection Process may include:
- Shortlisting of candidates, based on the information contained in their application and assessment of competencies detailed in respect of the role.
- In-Person Interview: A face-to-face meeting to assess suitability for the position.
- A secondary interview to further explore qualifications or clarify any outstanding questions
Salary Scale: Successful candidates will be paid in line with the June 2026 HSE revised consolidated Grade IV pay scale (point 1; 36,470 point 7; 56,018 LSIs per annum based on working a 35 hour week).
- Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale.
