The Opportunity
The Operations Directorate is at the heart of Ireland’s electricity system, bringing together expert professionals from engineering and commercial backgrounds. We’re central to delivering a secure, reliable, and sustainable power system and wholesale electricity market for the island of Ireland — and above all, ensuring the lights stay on.

The Capacity Funding & Delivery team runs the auctions that secure the long-term capacity needed to keep the lights on and support Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon future, in line with the Climate Action Plan.
As a Controller, you will support the day-to-day operation of the Capacity Market and Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS). You will play a key role in supporting your team through the preparation, analysis and maintenance of information required to support business processes, procedures and auction administration activities.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the Capacity Funding and Delivery team by preparing and analysing information to support business processes and procedures for the Capacity Market and the Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS).
You will be responsible for effectively operating business processes within your designated area of the Capacity Market or RESS, including planning and co-ordinating activities to a high standard and within the timelines set out in the Grid Code, Trading and Settlement Codes, SEMOpx Rules, Capacity Market Rules and RESS Terms and Conditions.
Working closely with Senior Controllers, you will support the administration of auctions and market processes, preparing documentation and analysis for review and approval in line with established procedures and governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Auction Administration and Market Operations:
- Support the administration and operation of the Capacity Market and Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS), including qualification and auction delivery activities.
- Prepare operational documentation, market notices, reports and analysis to support auction and market processes.
- Ensure activities are completed in accordance with the Grid Code, Trading and Settlement Codes, SEMOpx Rules, Capacity Market Rules and RESS Terms and Conditions.

Produce reports, dashboards and performance information for Senior Controllers, Managers and other stakeholders.

Support the administration of delivery for new or refurbished capacity from auction award through to substantial completion.

Customer and Stakeholder Support

Work closely with Senior Controllers to support the delivery of team objectives and key market activities.

Support engagement with market participants and stakeholders to monitor capacity and renewable project delivery progress.

Co-ordinate customer and stakeholder meetings, including follow-up actions and communications.

Auction Operations Support
-
Support the effective operation of business processes within the Capacity Market or RESS.

Contribute to process improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, controls and customer service.

Maintain accurate records and documentation to support operational excellence.

Prepare documents and analysis for review and approval by Senior Controllers in line with agreed processes.

Governance, Compliance and Audit:
- Support the team's contributions to internal and external audits, ensuring evidence and records are maintained to a high standard.

Assist with the co-ordination of consultations, modifications and governance activities relating to market and auction rules.

Ensure activities are carried out in accordance with established controls, procedures and compliance requirements.
About You-
You hold a third-level qualification in Business, IT, Finance or a related discipline, typically supported by 1–2 years’ relevant experience.

Experience of co-ordinating and supporting the delivery of key tasks within a team environment.

Demonstrable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent time management and co-ordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

An effective communicator who can convey information and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Strong numeracy and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present information accurately.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Experience presenting information to groups and stakeholders.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
