The Role - BIM Lead
Reporting to the BIM Manager, the role of the BIM Lead is to work as part of the BIM team for BMD in the Leinster region. The job will entail working with customer and design houses to complete the Mechanical BIM package to the client's satisfaction. The BIM tasks should be completed efficiently using the latest software to ensure compliance with our customer and industrial engineering standards.
Detail piping / pipe supports and other services as required from base information.
Create piping fabrication isometrics and from the native models using Plant3D/CADWorx software.
Attend and lead client interactions for BIM co-ordination
Follow document control procedures.
Develop piping models to BMD standard based on our BIM processes.
Review federated models for BIM clashes with all trades, client and co-ordinate any remedial actions required.
Solve QAQC issues with engineering lead.
Assist Junior/Senior BIM team members to produce quality designs and provide constructability feedback.
Delegate workload to junior team members
Provide site support for construction teams and feedback guidance to the BIM team.
Tackle project constraints and see that they reach a successful conclusion.
Utilise 3D point clouds where necessary to ensure a clash free design.
Establish BIM coordination internal meetings and report & record progress.
Record BIM models and their status.
Be proactive and look for solutions that increase productivity both on-site and in the modelling output
Assist in the growth of the BIM department for future projects.
Education, Training & Experience
Preferably a Qualification in a Mechanical related discipline, Design or equivalent
3+ years relevant work placement in a process mechanical environment
Software Technology Experience in applying some or all of the following technologies is a preferable:
Autodesk Packages (AutoCAD 2D, Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, Plant3D,etc)
Cadworx (Training can be provided)
BlueBeam
BIM360 CDE
