Scope of the Role:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Change specialist to join Mercury internal operations. This role will ensure business and people readiness for a broad spectrum of change initiatives. This role focuses heavily on assessing impacts, preparing functions, ensuring operational continuity, and supporting leaders and teams through change.
In addition, the Change specialist will partner with the Head of Change to build our internal change toolkit, standardise governance templates and design end-to-end change strategies for critical company initiatives. This role is suited to someone with strong structure, communication and engagement skills who wants to shape a growing Change Function
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Change Framework Development & Governance Enablement
- Support the Head of Change Operations in establishing Mercury’s Change Framework.
- Develop and maintain artefacts such as impact assessment templates, stakeholder maps, readiness templates, communications plans, business case formats, and lessons learned processes.
- Rollout the change framework to functions and project teams.
- Business Readiness
- Conduct impact assessments, stakeholder analysis, and readiness assessments for assigned changes.
- Work with business owners to define acceptance criteria, readiness checkpoints and go/no‑go recommendations.
- Develop and execute engagement, communication, and training plans which are proportionate to risk, impact and complexity.
- Support benefits realisation activities and adoption tracking.
- Monitor readiness indicators and escalate barriers early.
- Support operational teams in preparing for handover, stabilisation, and early-life support.
- People Change, Stakeholder Collaboration & Communications
- Conduct stakeholder identification, engagement and impact mapping.
- Develop clear, compelling communications for impacted groups.
- Support training needs assessment and preparation of materials with functional teams.
- Help leaders communicate change effectively across their teams.
- Track engagement and adoption levels and address resistance or risk to adoption.
- Ensure impacted functions understand upcoming change and are resourced appropriately
- Portfolio Visibility & Reporting
- Maintain visibility of change impacts across initiatives within scope.
- Provide updates to the Change Management team on readiness, risks, dependencies, and adoption barriers.
- Support Change Project Managers with readiness, impact information and adoption insights for portfolio planning, prioritisation, and collision management.
- Monitor progress against change milestones and readiness gates
- Post‑Change Adoption & Stabilisation
- Support handover from project to operations and ensure stability plans are in place.
- Track early-life issues, adoption blockers and behavioural shifts.
- Feed insights into Lessons Learned and subsequent framework improvements
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify readiness challenges, systemic issues and patterns across initiatives.
- Contribute to improvements in templates, guidance, training materials and governance processes.
- Identify trends and lessons across change initiatives and feed insights into framework improvements.
- Contribute to updating templates, playbooks, guidance and training materials.
- Support the maturing of Mercury’s change capability.
Competencies:
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to analyse risks, impacts & interdependencies and convert them into practical action plans
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- 3–5 years’ experience in Change Management
- Experience delivering people and business readiness activities within projects or programmes.
- Strong working knowledge of structured change methodologies (e.g., Prosci/ADKAR, Kotter, Agile Change). Certification is a distinct advantage.
- Confident in launching and driving adoption of initiatives
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in fast-paced environments such as construction, engineering, technology or regulated industries.
- Exposure to business analysis or business process optimisation would be an advantage but not required
