The Opportunity
The Lead of the End User Tools team is responsible for enabling the business to work more efficiently and make more data-driven decisions through the safe, well-governed adoption of AI, analytical and automation tools. Today this means Microsoft Copilot and the Power Platform; over time it will extend to other capabilities as they emerge.
The Lead of the End User Tools owns the End User Tools strategy and operating model, builds and runs the Centre of Excellence (CoE), and acts as the principal point of contact and evangelist for the team across the organisation. The role balances strategic direction and stakeholder influence with hands-on understanding of the platforms, and is built around a "rules, schools and tools" model — governance and guardrails (rules), training and enablement (schools), and access to and provisioning of the right capabilities (tools).
Success is measured by adoption, efficiency gains and value realised across the business — not by experimentation alone.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a specialist team across Power BI, Copilot and Power Platform to deliver the End User Tools strategy in partnership with the business.
- Coach and develop a multidisciplinary team, setting priorities, managing capacity, and ensuring high-quality delivery, support and partner management.
- Define the End User Tools strategy and roadmap, align it to business and technology priorities.
- Lead the End User Tools Centre of Excellence, defining its charter, operating model and decision rights, and maintaining governance, guardrails and controlled platform access.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to secure approvals, funding and mandates, translate technical capabilities into business value, and champion responsible adoption.
- Work closely with EirGrid Solution Architects, Cloud Operations, Security Architects and EirGrid security operations teams to align tools capabilities with organisational needs and security standards.
- Evolve the operating model for service delivery and tool lifecycle management, using metrics and reviews to drive quality, control and continuous improvement.
- Promote how AI, analytics and automation can improve day-to-day work, and foster a culture of learning, innovation and experimentation with guardrails.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in industry-leading tools within the low-code/no-code application development, hyper automation, and generative AI sectors tools and assess their relevance to EirGrid.
