Verizon is in the process of modernizing our core networks to enable new, ground-breaking products and technologies. We are looking for Centre Engineers within Voice and Video to help us lead the charge. In this position, you will be responsible for Centre Engineering and Vendor Management for various build initiatives across multiple networks.
You will engineer and manage multiple simultaneous projects. The position requires involvement throughout the life cycle of a build, in particular to resolve technical issues as they present themselves.
Engineering details will include but not be limited to project-specific installation instructions, engineering database (ICON, CCP) updates, equipment configurations, card/port assignments/requirements, power mapping, cable running lists, floor space and rack placement, and a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM).
Your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
Creating required Shopping Carts, Telephone Equipment Orders (TEOs), and Project Supplements for financial budget management.
Managing multiple Capacity Creation Requests for hardware deployments, reconfigurations, decommissions, and First Office Application (FOA) projects.
Negotiating and coordinating overall project schedules, construction dates, and project milestones with stakeholders and third-party vendors.
Identifying, monitoring, reporting, escalating, and resolving technical issues encountered throughout the build process.
Maintaining communication with project teams and interfacing with Operations to perform site surveys and conduct quality reviews.
Negotiating, coordinating, and driving/tracking completion of project milestones with all appropriate stakeholders, to include third-party turf vendors.
Facilitating and maintaining relationships with multiple service vendors, including pricing compliance, standards creation and compliance, and conducting quality reviews – to include follow-up remediation as appropriate and periodic performance reviews.

You are self-driven with experience in the design and implementation of complex and distributed systems. You have a passion for seeking engineering excellence and adopting new technologies. You are not afraid to drive for success by working with multi-functional teams.
You’ll need to have:
A bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
Knowledge of one or more of the following technical domains:
SONET, DWDM and Long Haul Transport Systems
Backbone Routing and Switching systems
Physical Server Deployments
Voice Switching platforms
Telecoms Installation Experience - hands-on or remotely directed.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Ability to work well with others (as a team) and individually (on your own projects) with a positive attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrable excellence in problem-solving.
Relevant technical experience. Proficiency in utilizing AI tools to streamline technical research, documentation, and problem-solving.
