About the Role
As one of Ireland's most progressive and people-focused building consultancies, we are expanding our team with an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer – Data Centre to support the delivery of major hyperscale data centre developments in Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who wants to move beyond traditional design and become a trusted technical advisor overseeing quality, resilience and performance on large-scale mission-critical projects.
You will work within ORS's Data Centre delivery team providing independent technical review, QA/QC oversight, commissioning support and Employer's Representative services for some of the most technically demanding projects being delivered in Ireland.
You will provide technical leadership across Data Centre and mission-critical projects throughout design, construction, commissioning and handover phases. The role is focused on ensuring electrical systems are designed, installed, tested and commissioned to the highest standards while meeting client requirements and industry best practice.
You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, commissioning teams and specialist vendors to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and technical assurance reviews.
- Review electrical calculations, specifications and technical submissions.
- Assess system resilience, redundancy strategies and operational performance.
- Review contractor shop drawings and commissioning documentation.
- Support the resolution of technical queries and RFIs.
- Carry out site inspections and construction quality reviews.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings.
- Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), commissioning activities and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Review energisation strategies and operational readiness plans.
- Support project handover, documentation reviews and technical close-out activities.
Provide technical input to risk reviews and value engineering exercises.

Essential Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
- 10+ years' experience within electrical building services, mission-critical facilities or data centres.
- Strong knowledge of:
- MV and LV Distribution Systems
- Generators
- UPS Systems
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- EPMS Platforms
- Protection Systems
- Power Monitoring and Control Systems
- Commissioning and Testing Processes
- Experience reviewing electrical designs, calculations and contractor submissions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage technical reviews across multiple projects.

- Hyperscale or colocation facility projects.
- Operational readiness and commissioning support.
Experience working across design, construction and commissioning phases of major projects.
