Employee Experience and Productivity (EEP) is part of IS&T and delivers some of the most widely used communication and productivity technology and services across Apple - from tools that enable collaboration to the support teams that keep Apple's workforce running. EEP also leads user experience design and research, and manages the systems behind Apple's original content studios. Description
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to web applications powered by Python and PHP backends, with frontends spanning React, Vue, and server-rendered templates, guiding technical direction across the stack. You take ownership of complex, ambiguous problems across the frontend, API, and data layers - including internal Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that power AI and system interoperability - and you drive technical decisions that shape how these pieces work together.

You operate with significant autonomy on complex work, applying best practices and critical judgment with minimal guidance. You identify opportunities to improve reliability, developer experience, and user-facing quality, and you extend your impact across related teams and cross-organization initiatives. The team's size means your technical decisions have direct, outsized impact on the applications thousands of Apple employees use every day.
","responsibilities":"Guide the technical direction and implementation of complex features spanning frontend interfaces (React, Vue, or server-rendered templates) and Python and PHP backend services
Design scalable APIs, data models, and service architectures - including internal MCP servers that expose tools and data to AI systems
Drive features through their full lifecycle: from concept and design through deployment and operational excellence
Apply and help raise engineering best practices across the full stack - frontend architecture, API design, testing strategies, and performance
Identify technical risks and dependencies early; develop mitigation strategies and drive resolution
Mentor and share knowledge with colleagues across both frontend and backend disciplines
Contribute to cross-organization initiatives, expanding your impact beyond the immediate team
Partner with product managers and stakeholders to inform roadmap priorities and technical direction
Lead post-incident reviews and drive improvements in reliability and operational quality
Evaluate and integrate AI services and capabilities - such as MCP-based tooling - to enhance the user experience
Contribute to hiring: interview candidates, calibrate the technical bar across the stack

Preferred Qualifications
Experience building and operating production web applications at scale
Experience building MCP servers or other AI tooling and service integration - LLM APIs, RAG architectures
Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, Laravel, or Symfony
Experience with observability, monitoring, and site reliability practices
Track record of driving engineering quality improvements across a team
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

Minimum Qualifications
Deep proficiency in Python and/or PHP for backend web development, with strong API design skills
Strong frontend experience with JavaScript and a modern framework (React or Vue) and/or server-rendered templates
Solid command of database design - relational and non-relational - and query optimisation, plus experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and deployment automation
Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and mentor other engineers
