Description
As a DevOps Engineer on the EEE team, you will help build and operate the infrastructure and delivery pipelines behind web applications powered by Python and PHP backends - including internal Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that connect Apple's tools and data to AI systems. You will work across CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, containers, and monitoring - gaining broad, hands-on experience in how modern services are deployed, scaled, and kept reliable.
Partnering with senior engineers, you will take ownership of well-scoped tasks across build automation, deployment, and day-to-day system operations - with a strong focus on keeping services available and responsive for the people who depend on them. A meaningful part of the role is operational support: monitoring service health, responding to issues, and helping maintain the uptime our users expect. You'll handle routine work with growing independence while relying on their guidance to navigate new or more complex problems. Provision and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS), applying infrastructure-as-code practices for repeatable, version-controlled environments
Package and deploy applications using containers (Docker), contributing to orchestration and configuration
Support the deployment and operation of internal MCP servers and the services that expose Apple's tools and data to AI systems
Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting to keep services healthy, observable, and meeting uptime and availability targets
Provide day-to-day operational support for the team's applications and services - triaging incoming issues, responding to alerts, and escalating when needed
Write automation scripts (Python, Bash) to reduce manual work and improve consistency across environments
Investigate and help resolve operational issues - from failed deployments to performance and availability problems - working to minimise service disruption and restore uptime quickly
Participate in on-call and incident response with guidance, and contribute to post-incident follow-ups that improve reliability and prevent recurrence
Collaborate with software engineers to make applications easier to build, deploy, and operate
Apply security and access-control best practices to infrastructure and pipelines
Document infrastructure, runbooks, and operational procedures clearly
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
Exposure to container orchestration (Kubernetes)
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch)
Understanding of networking fundamentals, authentication, and infrastructure security patterns
Exposure to operating Python or PHP web applications in production
Interest in AI tooling and integrations, such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of Linux fundamentals and command-line tooling
Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash) for automation
Understanding of CI/CD concepts and version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
Exposure to cloud services (AWS) and/or containerised environments (Docker)
