We are now recruiting for a Senior Accounting Analyst (Hybrid) - for a permanent role in our Dublin Office.
JOB PURPOSE
SMC Logistics (SMCL) is a large complex entity within the Sandvik Group (Business Area: Mining) with a wide variety of reporting, internal control, compliance and tax obligations. It is engaged in the procurement and sale of tools and spare parts for mining and construction equipment to group companies and operates through warehouses in a number of countries worldwide.
Main Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
-
Support the preparation and review of month-end accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Ensure financial results are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal policies and accounting standards.

Other ad hoc duties as requested by management.

Provide guidance and support to junior team members on accounting processes, reporting requirements and day-to-day activities.
Customs Duties & Trade Compliance
-
Act as the accounting lead for customs duties and trade-related financial matters.

Monitor customs duty costs, tariff impacts, and related financial risks.
-
Support the accuracy of customs accounting, accruals, and reporting.

Act as business partner to trade compliance, logistics, procurement, tax, and external advisors to ensure accuracy of reporting.

Analyse changing customs and trade requirements and assess financial implications.
Finance Technology & Projects
-
Lead or participate in process improvement, and system enhancement projects.

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen controls, and improve efficiency.

Support implementation of new systems, reporting solutions, and automation initiatives.

Document accounting processes and maintain process maps and control documentation.

Assist with testing and validation of system changes and new functionality.
Analysis & Business Insights

Perform detailed financial analysis to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and operational improvements.

Develop reporting to improve visibility of areas of financial control and operational performance.

Deliver meaningful insights and recommendations to finance leadership and key stakeholders.
Experience
Education, Licences & Certificates
-
Qualified Accountant – ACA or ACCA qualification
Health & Wellbeing Initiatives – onsite massage therapist, gym membership, wellbeing seminars, bike to work scheme, etc
