- This role sits within our Irish Life Health (ILH) Risk team and reports to our Chief Risk Officer.
- As a second line function, the ILH Risk team has primary responsibility for independent risk oversight and effective challenge of all risk-taking decisions taken by the business (first line of defence) and delivering appropriate risk reporting to ILH Executive Risk Committees, the ILH Board and IL Group.
- The team promotes and embeds an effective risk culture and creates a consistent awareness of risk at all levels.
- The team provide risk leadership to ILH and help support delivery of the ILH Strategy.
What you will help us to achieve
- Promote a strong risk culture in ILH to ensure risk ownership and risk management are owned and prioritised by the 1st line.
- Enhance ILH's Risk Framework to drive the connection between risk management and business performance in the First Line.
- Lead delivery of quarterly Risk Reporting to ILH Executive Risk Committee and Group Operational Risk.
- Proactively monitor and challenge the first line on the effectiveness of the ILH Risk and Control environment.
- Be a key influencer in the ongoing improvement of impactful risk reporting, supporting the business through advice and constructive challenge.
- Support the CRO with completion of quarterly Board papers, inputs to the ORSA and any other duties assigned to meet function objectives.
- Keep up to date with external developments through engagement with relevant regulatory bodies and individual research.
What you will need to be successful in the role
- An accredited 3rd level degree or professional qualification and /or relevant industry experience;
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and across multiple functional areas;
- Strong understanding of risks facing the health insurance industry;
- Strong planning and organisational skills - delivery focussed;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Fitness & Probity
This role is a ‘controlled function’ as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that the appointee meets the requirements as set out in the Fitness and Probity standards issued by the Central Bank. This requires the company to complete prescribed due diligence to assess the appointee’s fitness and probity. Further details on this due diligence process are available from ILFS Human Resources.
