The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Account Executive to join its growing brokerage team.
This is a senior-level position suited to someone with significant experience within an Irish commercial insurance brokerage. You will manage and develop a portfolio of corporate and commercial clients, provide expert advice across multiple commercial insurance products and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
The successful candidate will be commercially aware, technically knowledgeable and confident managing complex client relationships independently. You will also support new business development through referrals, professional networking and proactive relationship building.
Key Responsibilities Account Management
- Manage a portfolio of corporate and commercial insurance clients, acting as their primary point of contact.
- Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s business, risks and insurance requirements.
- Conduct annual account reviews and prepare comprehensive renewal reports.
- Negotiate policy terms, pricing and coverage with insurers.
- Provide advice across a range of commercial insurance products, including:
- Public and employers’ liability
- Commercial property
- Motor fleet
- Professional indemnity
- Construction insurance
- Cyber insurance
- Business interruption
- Handle client queries, policy amendments and claims-related liaison promptly and professionally.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and become a trusted insurance adviser.
- Maintain accurate and complete client files, records and policy documentation.
New Business Development
- Identify and develop new commercial insurance opportunities.
- Generate business through referrals, professional networking and proactive outreach.
- Prepare and present competitive quotations to commercial and corporate prospects.
- Develop strong relationships with insurers and other professional contacts.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within the existing client portfolio.
- Contribute to the company’s business development pipeline and new business targets.
Compliance and Professional Standards
- Operate in accordance with all applicable Central Bank of Ireland regulations.
- Comply with the Consumer Protection Code, Minimum Competency Code and internal compliance procedures.
- Ensure all client communications, recommendations and advice are documented appropriately.
- Maintain the required professional qualifications and complete all relevant CPD requirements.
- Deliver consistently high standards of professional conduct and client service.
Essential Requirements
- At least five years’ experience within a commercial insurance brokerage environment in Ireland.
- Proven experience managing corporate and commercial insurance accounts at a senior level.
- APA General Insurance qualification as a minimum.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products across several lines, including liability, property, motor fleet, professional indemnity and construction.
- Experience managing complex, multi-line commercial accounts.
- Demonstrable experience advising corporate clients and senior decision-makers.
- A proven track record of developing client relationships and supporting new business growth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-management abilities.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage a busy portfolio independently while working effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Requirements
- CIP qualification.
- Existing relationships with commercial insurers operating in the Irish market.
- Experience in specialist areas such as construction, solicitors’ professional indemnity, motor fleet or financial lines.
- Familiarity with insurance broker management systems used within the Irish market.
- An established professional network and a strong track record in commercial business development.
