The Financial Controller is a hands-on group role responsible for financial control, reporting, cash management, tax and company secretarial compliance across the group. The role reports directly to the CFO, works closely with practice management and external advisors, and will play a central role in supporting the ongoing UK expansion, M&A pipeline and fundraising activity.
The role is broad from bank reconciliations and monthly close through to financial modelling and lender reporting. It will suit a qualified accountant who is comfortable operating across multiple workstreams in parallel.
Group financial control & reporting
Manage the monthly close across all group entities in Xero and consolidate with hard close by working day 5.
Prepare the monthly board pack, including group P&L, balance sheet, cashflow and practice-level performance.
Coordinate the preparation of statutory accounts and manage the group audit process with external advisors.
Maintain intercompany reconciliations and ensure consistency of the chart of accounts across all entities.
Cash management & treasury
Own the daily cashflow routine and produce the cash pack each morning.
Maintain a rolling six-month cashflow forecast at group and entity level.
Manage the group debt schedule.
Prepare monthly reporting packs for banks and private lenders.
Tax across jurisdictions
Manage the group tax calendar across Irish and UK corporation tax, VAT (including UK MTD), PAYE/PRSI and PAYE/NI, and UAE VAT and CT.
Coordinate corporation tax computations with external tax advisors.
Maintain transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements.
Company secretarial & corporate compliance
Manage CRO filings in Ireland and Companies House filings in the UK across the group, including annual returns, director changes, allotments, charges and confirmation statements.
Maintain statutory registers, cap table records and share-transaction documentation, working with external solicitors.
Maintain records of parent guarantees, cross-guarantees and debentures within the group's financing structure.
Practice-level financial oversight
Ensure accuracy of dentist pay, including self-billing arrangements, associate splits and per-clinician calculations.
Oversee lab-work reconciliations and central marketing recharges to clinics.
Manage debtors.
M&A and integration support
Business partnering
Provide financial insight and support to practice managers and clinicians on P&L, gross margin, wage percentage and marketing efficiency.
Support the CFO and senior team on strategic and commercial decision-making.
Team & controls
Manage the in-house finance team, covering bookkeeping, AP, AR and payroll interface.
Design and embed financial controls, approval processes and close calendars that scale with the group.
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
8+ years post-qualification experience, including at least three in a multi-entity group.
Meaningful UK experience across corporation tax, VAT, PAYE/NI and Companies House filings.
Strong practical experience with Xero and consolidation software (Joiin or equivalent).
Working knowledge of Irish and UK tax and company secretarial compliance.
Strong financial modelling and Excel skills, with experience across a broad remit from bank reconciliations to acquisition modelling.
Meaningful experience of AI-enabled workflows, agentic tools (e.g. Claude Cowork) and finance automation is a key requirement.
Comfort operating across multiple currencies (EUR, GBP, AED).
Integration experience on the acquisition of new businesses is a key requirement.
Experience of the healthcare, dental or another multi-site consumer sector is desirable but not essential.
A hands-on, organised and highly numerate operator who can manage multiple workstreams concurrently.
