The Activities Facilitator will work under the general direction of the Activities Coordinator and will deputise for the Coordinator as required; and will be responsible for the provision of a full activity programme, schedule and inclusion of all residents in Maguire House(s)
Liaise with Residents and their Families and Carers, MDT, Physio’s, SLT OT colleagues, all staff including Day Care staff, Social Services, Primary Care, Volunteers, Education Services and other relevant external agencies.
Under the supervision of CNM’s DON maintain and develop, implement and evaluate a programme of suitable and varied Social and Therapeutic Activities Entertainment on an individual and group basis to suit Residents’ specific needs in each Unit and within budgetary limits.
Regularly review the programme and its suitability for participating Residents, set up and manage a consultation Forum with the Residents to evaluate and plan new Activity programmes and events..
Extend the Activity Programme to the community by inviting community organisations, schools, and agencies into the Home to participate and provide Activity for the Residents.
Coordinate all Activity Facilitators Volunteers in the running of this programme and identify, promote and encourage potential Volunteers to get involved.
Liaise and work with the Activities and Volunteer Steering Group in respect of all Volunteers to ensure their compliance with regulatory requirements and Policies Procedures of the Home.
Develop and maintain good professional links with statutory, voluntary and private organisations and the multi-disciplinary team.
Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and maintain communication networks with Staff, Residents, Families, Carers and the broader Community.
Monitor attendance at all Activities to identify trends and changing needs.
Convene and co-chair meetings of the Activity Committee and report to the Home’s Activity Coordinator.
Deputise for and liaise with the Home’s Activity Coordinator
Bring the Gardens and Facilities of the Home into the Activity programme, ensuring that at all times there is free movement and Access for all residents to participate in outdoor activities in all units at their choice.
Create an environment of a household everyday activity, whereby residents have choice in multiple activity sessions, including structured activities provided on a sessional basis; along with household activity which occurs throughout the day (e.g. gardening, linen, cooking etc.)
Under the guidance and supervision of the CNM make appropriate interventions in response to the needs of Residents and plan / provide a programme of recreational/social/therapeutic activities.
Complete the Residents Activity Assessment form, update on at least a 4 monthly basis and input the data in to the care plan of each Resident – demonstrating level of participation, and enjoyment in the narrative evaluation.
Demonstrate choice by the Resident to participate and not to participate in Activities.
Provide education sessions on Activity in Northridge House and other Care Home settings.

hold a qualification such as FETAC Level 5 Care of the Older Person or a diploma in Gerontology or advocacy skills and / or other related qualification; or similar to show an understanding of the duties and role of an Activity Coordinator in the sector.
be a good communicator, personable with an ability to interact with Residents, Managers, Staff, Volunteers and Activity providers.
demonstrate ability to organise and manage a team of activity personnel
be flexible and organised with good leadership skills.
Confidentiality, courtesy, accountability, discretion and the ability to work on own initiative are key requisites of the position.
