Key responsibilities:
You will generally be responsible for supervision and technical direction over a team of engineers and designers when functioning as a lead engineer. As lead engineer, you will be responsible for total delivery of the structural deliverables and services on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations. Duties may include performing advanced engineering work serving as a technical specialist for a complex engineering assignment. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in structural engineering and involves utilization of project controls for cost, schedule and quality of projects.
Overall Expectations:
Actively cooperate with members of your project task force, client personnel and members of your department, as appropriate
Provide leadership within your project team and give technical guidance as required
Coordinate the activities of the structural team working under your direction
Agree a schedule of design activities and package dates with the project team
Understand client expectations, as determined by the team, and constantly strive to achieve or better these
Meet commitments that you make to the client, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates or within agreed man-hour or cost budgets
Here's what you'll need
BSc or MSc in Civil / Structural Engineering
Chartered engineer
Ideally, you will also have;
Knowledge and application of Eurocode, BSI and Irish design standards and codes
Knowledge and application of the Irish Building Regs
Knowledgeable of the discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct process and manufacturing projects
Experienced in estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of civil/structural work
Experience of large industrial type projects
Skills:
Good listening, writing, communications and conflict resolution skills
Able to lead teams to deliver on commitments
